The Waldorf Astoria New York is a historic 47-story, 625-foot landmark occupying an entire city block in Midtown Manhattan. Originally opened in 1931, the hotel underwent an extensive eight-year restoration and renovation that carefully blended preservation of its iconic heritage with modern luxury and mixed-use programming.
The comprehensive transformation reconfigured approximately 1.6 million square feet of interior space, converting the original layout from nearly 1,400 hotel rooms into a combination of 375 hotel guest rooms and suites alongside 372 luxury residences, while restoring landmark-protected public spaces and event venues.
Liberty provided general requirements support and punch list services throughout the project, assisting with coordination of final work, quality control, and close-out activities within a highly complex preservation environment. This work demanded meticulous planning and collaboration across trades and stakeholders to honor historic elements while supporting contemporary renovation standards of this iconic structure.
